“Reading For Now” on Monotonic Radio

“Reading For Now” is a live internet radio show hosted on Monotonic. Every Sunday at 11 A.M. PST, I read allowed a work of nonfiction an hour at a time, taking fifteen minutes at the end of the episode to summarize my first impressions of the reading. Each episode is followed up by a Substack post every Friday, which includes an embedded video of the previous week’s episode, a summary of the chapter’s contents, and my collected thoughts.

The intention behind the book selection is to find critical, scholarly work, for the critical issues of today. The title of the show does not only play on the immediacy of the form (I am reading for right now"), but the overall mission (reading for the present).

The current “Reading For Now” selection is Conflict Is Not Abuse: Overstating Harm, Community Responsibility, and the Duty of Repair by Sarah Schulman.
